Alejandro De Santana Albornoz is a composer, singer, and instrumentalist shaped by his Venezuelan roots and global upbringing. He channels his deep passion for folk traditions into music that weaves together cultural identity, mysticism, and the wonders of nature, with a focus on storytelling and emotional expression.

Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in composition at Indiana University, Alejandro has had his works performed by the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra, BRACE New Music Choir, MSU Chorale, the VICE Ensemble, and the Polaris Ensemble. Works like Joropo, Herança: Reverie, Tres Danzas, and Íkaros highlight his blend of traditional and contemporary idioms, drawing on jazz, classical, Afro-Caribbean, and Latin American influences to craft evocative sound worlds.

As a performer, Alejandro is active in both classical and popular spaces. He has appeared as a tenor soloist with NOTUS contemporary choir at the Jacobs School of Music, the Verna D. Holley Project, and Michigan State University ensembles. He has accompanied choirs on various fretted instruments, including charango, cuatro, and guitar; performed with the MSU Salsa ensemble; and recently written and performed an original one-act musical theater work, Otherworld.

Alejandro’s work embodies a deep commitment to bridging traditions, amplifying underrepresented voices, and using music as a powerful medium for connection and storytelling.
